Amish White Bread

This easy-to-use recipe will give you a soft and light crumb bread. This bread fits well with the simple and thrifty traditions of the Amish.

* Ingredients:

☞ 2 cups of hot water (45 ° C)
☞ 2/3 cup of sugar
☞ 1 1/2 tsp. active dry yeast
☞ 1 1/2 tsp. salt
☞ 1/4 cup of vegetable oil
☞ 6 cups of bread flour

* Preparation:

1 - Dissolve the sugar in hot water and add the yeast. Let stand until the sourdough begins to foam.
2 - Pour the salt and oil into the baking powder, then stir in the flour, 1 cup at a time. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface until it is supple and light. Place the ball in a well oiled bowl and roll the ball in it to grease it. Cover the bowl with a wet cloth and permit  the dough high about about 1 hour, until it doubles in size.
3 - Crush the dough with your fist to release the air, knead it for a few minutes and cut it in half. Shape each half of the dough into a loaf of bread and place them in 2 well-oiled 9x15-inch molds. Let rise for 31 more minutes, or until dough is over 1 inch (2.5 cm) high molds.
4 - Bake at 350 ° F for 31 minutes.
