Family and friends are in for a treat on
these streusel-style fruit bars, which will make a perfect dessert for your
next party. Try them out!
* Ingredients:
° 2 c. cornstarch
° 1 c. tablespoon of water
° 1 lb fresh sweet black cherries, pitted,
halved
° 1 c. fresh lemon juice
° 1/2 cup granulated sugar, divided
° 1 cup of flour
° 1 cup quick-cooking oatmeal
° 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
° 1/2 c. baking soda
° 3/4 cup cold butter, cut into pieces
° 1 package Philadelphia Brick Cream
Cheese, softened
° 1 egg
* Preparation:
Step 1
Heat the oven to 350 ° F.
Step 2
Line 9-inch square pan with foil, letting
foil hang over sides; spray with cooking spray; Combine cornstarch & water
until Mixed.
Step 3
Bring cherries, lemon juice and 1/4 cup
sugar in medium saucepan on medium-high heat, stirring often; simmer over
medium heat 5 min. or until cherries are tender, stirring occasionally. Add the
cornstarch mixture; cook 1 to 2 min. , stirring permentaly. Remove from fire.
Step 4
Combine flour, oatmeal, brown sugar and
baking soda in a large bowl. Stir in butter using a pastry blender ; pressure
1/5 of the blending to the prepared pan. Cook 10 min. Meanwhile, combine cream
cheese, egg and remaining sugar until blended.
Step 5
Cast cream cheese blending on crust; top
with cherry mixture and remaining breadcrumb mixture.
Step 6
Bake 25 to 30 min. . Let cool completely.
Unmold the dessert using the paper handles; cut into bars.
