10 home remedies to reduce water retention

 



Some complain of swelling of the feet or body, and this is due to fluid retention in the body.


Its causes include the high amount of sodium in the body, lack of exercise, poor blood circulation, lack of vitamins, venous insufficiency, stress, pregnancy, hot weather, allergies, menstruation, high blood pressure, heart, kidney, lung, liver, thyroid disorders, some medications and birth control pills.


All of the above leads to body pain, and water retention may lead to obesity, a feeling of bloating, joint stiffness and high blood pressure.


1- Dandelion «the roots of maid and chicory»:


Dandelion, or what is known as the roots of menthus and chicory, is a diuretic plant that helps reduce sodium levels in the body and is rich in magnesium, which reduces bloating after menstruation.


Put a dried spoonful of it on a cup of hot water and leave it for 10 minutes and drink the tea 3 times a day.


2- parsley:


It has diuretic properties, and we prepare parsley tea by placing two tablespoons of dried parsley leaves in a cup of boiling water, leaving it for 10 minutes and drinking 3 times a day, and lemon juice can be added to it.


3-Epsom salt (Epsom salt):


Epsom salt bath helps you get rid of flatulence, water retention, relaxation and calms the nerves.

Soak two cups of Epsom salts in a warm bath water and soak in it for 15 minutes 3 times a week.


4- Lemon juice:


It helps flush out fluids and toxins from the body.

We mix two tablespoons of lemon juice with a cup of warm water, and you can sweeten it with honey once a day for a few days.


5- Fennel:


Fennel is a diuretic and helps to increase sodium, remove water from the kidneys, aid digestion, and relieve gas.

Put a spoonful of fennel on a cup of hot water and cover for 10 minutes, then filter and drink 3 times a day.



6- Nettle herb:


Nettle or Harika is one of the herbs that spread in Sinai and is considered a diuretic and prevents water retention in the body.

Boil a spoonful of the plant with a cup of water for 10 minutes and drink it 3 times a day.


7- Berry juice:


Diuretic and rich in minerals such as magnesium, potassium and calcium that help maintain fluid balance in the body.

A cup of unsweetened cranberry juice should be drunk daily.


8- Aromatherapy (essential oils):


Smells stimulate the lymphatic system and encourage fluid removal from the body.

We put 20 drops of geranium, juniper, and cypress essential oils in a warm bath and soak our bodies for 10 minutes at least 3 times a week.


9- apple cider vinegar:


Apple cider vinegar relieves water retention in the body by replenishing potassium in the body to help reduce sodium levels.


Add a spoonful of apple cider vinegar to a cup of water and drink it twice daily.

If there is water retention in the feet, soak the feet in equal amounts of vinegar and water for 10 minutes, which also reduces foot odor.


10 - Onions:


Antiseptic and diuretic, and prevents the formation of kidney stones.

Boil a few onions in 4 cups of water, add salt, then filter and drink 2 to 3 cups of it daily for a few days.


NB :


In addition, there are other diuretic foods such as watercress, cucumber, celery, banana, pineapple and watermelon.

Drink plenty of water every day, limit salt intake and exercise.
