Indian fry bread recipe

Preparation time: 10 minutes | Cooking time: 2-4 minutes | Servings: 12


* Ingredients:


° 2 cups of flour for all purposes


° 1.5 teaspoon of sugar


° 0.5 teaspoon of salt


° 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder


° 2 pinches of baking soda


° 2 tablespoons of sunflower oil


° Half a cup of whole yogurt


° 3-4 tablespoons of milk


° frying oil



* Method:


In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar and salt, baking powder and baking soda. Add 3 to 4 teaspoons of lukewarm water.


Adding oil also yogurt to this blending & starting kneading it using your hands . As you knead, keep adding a little more milk, not all at once. If you knead with your hands it will take about 10 minutes and if you use an electric mixer it will be done in 5 minutes.


Apply a little oil to the paste, cover it with a damp cloth and keep it in a warm place for at least 45 minutes. After for 45 min , divided dough to 8 equal parts & rubbing it to little balls.


Meanwhile, heat enough oil to fry in a skillet over medium-high heat. If you want to check the heat, you can drop a small piece of dough into the oil and if it just rises on it, the oil is hot enough.


Using a massager, begin to roll out the split balls of dough into round loaves. It will have a diameter of about 8 to 10 cm.


Start frying the bread. Continue to gently press down on the top of the bread with the spoon to allow the bread to rise easily. Turn them over and do the same until they are a light brown color and transfer the fried bread to a napkin plate covered with an absorbent layer to soak up the excess oil.
