From Unique Baby to Stunning Young Girl: The Inspiring Journey of Angelica"
In every individual lies a unique beauty, and this certainly holds true for newborn babies.
Born in 2018, a baby girl named Angelica brought immense joy to her family. Her striking facial features and the unique heart-shaped port wine stain on her face made her all the more special. However, not everyone appreciated the distinct beauty of her birthmark.
Angelica's mother, Marianna Bowering, stated that while their family loved and accepted Angelica's birthmark, there were some who felt the need to critique the young girl's appearance.
Recalling some harsh online comments, Marianna told the Mirror, "Someone once asked if her face had been pressed onto a hot skillet, implying that her face looked grilled."
Even more upsetting were instances when Angelica was called "hideous" or a "defect." These cruel words affected the family deeply and added to their struggles. Nonetheless, they resolved to rise above the negativity and derogatory comments.
Regardless of what others said, Angelica's family instilled in her the importance of self-love.
To boost Angelica's self-esteem, Marianna decided to paint her own face with a design resembling her daughter's birthmark.
She got this idea from vascular birthmark awareness day, which encourages people to paint hearts on their cheeks. "At first, I just did the heart, but then I thought why not fully embrace Angelica's port wine stain," Marianna shared with The Epoch Times.
Any attempt to 'comfort' Marianna by suggesting that Angelica's mark might fade with time or could be covered with makeup as she grew older only served to deepen her concern. Marianna dreaded the thought of her daughter feeling pressured to hide her unique beauty rather than celebrating it.
This served as a stark reminder of societal norms dictating appearance standards and the pressure to conform for acceptance.
Angelica's family continually encouraged her to embrace her uniqueness. There were moments when Marianna would enhance her daughter’s port wine stain with glitter, allowing it to sparkle brightly.
"We've conducted tests and Angelica is completely healthy," Marianna confirmed, addressing concerns that children with such birthmarks can develop health conditions. "We only need to have regular check-ups, especially for her eyes as glaucoma can be a concern."
We are thrilled that Angelica is being raised to love herself and celebrate her birthmark.
Isn't she a beautiful young lady?
